7 Books I Want to Finish Before 2019

Hi, friends! I know I’ve been gone for a bit; I was trying to get situated with my 2018-19 course-load and get into a groove before I worked on external projects. The funny thing is, I have been trying to write posts, it’s just finishing them that’s been tricky (Expect a book review soon). Today a copy of Laini Taylor’s The Muse of Nightmares was delivered to my house from Barnes and Noble, and I couldn’t be more inspired to get to reading! Here are some books I’m adding to my end-of-2018 TBR list.

1. Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon

2. Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor

3. The Magician’s Nephew by C.S. Lewis

4. Carrie by Stephen King

5. Rooms by Lauren Oliver

6. Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys

7. The Marvels by Brian Selznick

A few of these books I’ve had for a long time. The Marvels is a book that I purchased years ago, right after finding out it existed because I loved Brian Selznick’s previous two books (these three books do not make a series, but you might have heard of his novel The Adventures of Hugo Cabret). I actually happen to own all of these with the exception of Carrie, which I’ll be checking out from the library, so the six I have are neatly stacked up on the floor in my room, ready to be read.

The first book I plan on reading is The Marvels, because I’ve…already read about 400 pages (so half the book, which is literally just pictures) and I’m really excited to see how the two halves of the story connect!

I truly think the only books out of these seven that I haven’t started or tried to start in the past are The Muse of Nightmares (because it’s new) and Carrie. Yeah…though I love books, I’m not the best at making time out of my busy schedule to read them as avidly as did before. Sometimes I get a little nostalgic looking on Goodreads at how many books I read in 2014 and 2015, and the numbers are in the 20s, compared to say 2017 where I read maybe four books that weren’t required by an assignment. Maybe less than that?

I understand it’s a little late to be making goals like this, but hopefully I can complete this challenge. I’ll definitely enter 2019 feeling slightly accomplished knowing I was able to get into a groove and read some in the last couple months of the year. 🙂

Thanks so much for reading!

Cec ❤
