Hey, friends! So a little over a month ago I got the amazing opportunity to see the new movie The Black Panther with my family, and I have to say that it was great! Now, I’m not much of a Marvel fan or even a superhero movie fan, but I do like movies, and this was a great one.
For those of you who’ve been hearing so much about this groundbreaking movie and still haven’t gotten the chance to see it yet… what are you waiting for? I’m here to give you a nice quick review so you know what to expect.
So, the movie is about a man named T’Challa who, after his father’s death, travels to the advanced African society of Wakanda to accept his position of king. Wakanda is a hidden, though extremely intelligent hidden society near Nigeria, in which four of five original tribes live under the ruling of a king – the Black Panther. When a challenger arrives to try and fight T’Challa for the throne, all is questioned with new mysteries such as who the stranger is, and what his motives are.
This movie has been especially groundbreaking for the African and African-American culture, with so many athletes crossing their arms over their chest in the traditional Wakandan way as a sign of respect and resilience. The first black superhero is definitely something to be talked about, but not just by African-Americans. People of all races are able to see just how important this film is to modern media.
The Black Panther has also been incredibly successful in the box office, making over $200M in the opening weekend of release!
I really hope that y’all get the opportunity to go out and see this movie, and if you have, don’t hesitate to let me know your thoughts!
Excellent review and insightful about the deeper significance of the movie. Thank you!
