Hello, friends! So, I recently realized that I sort of started a blog with this crazy nonsensical-sounding name, and never explained myself.
So, today, I’m going to explain myself.
Now, to be completely honest, yellow isn’t my favorite color. It’s definitely one of my favorites, because I don’t really have one, and I definitely hold it in high regard, but I’m not sure if I can commit to calling it my favorite color just yet.
So, basically, during the summer of 2015, my mother and I went to Shoe Carnival (for those of you who don’t know, it’s a shoe store) to get some running sneakers and some dress shoes for concerts. The store had a giant gumball machine in the front of the store, and so I got out a quarter and bought myself a yellow gumball.
While observing my gumball, I noticed that it was a rather striking shade of yellow, and that I quite liked it. It was no later than that moment that I deemed yellow “a color worth paying attention to.”
The “Eccentricity” part of my name branched from my love for the Mad Hatter. I just love the idea of him, and his whole aesthetic he’s got going on. I discovered the word ‘eccentric’ and soon tried to incorporate it into my Goodreads username (It was all about the Goodreads username back then.) and came up with Yellow Eccentric, then The Eccentric(s), and finally, Yellow Eccentricity.
The thing is, I was originally going to talk about books on YouTube and name my YouTube channel “Yellow Eccentricity” as well, but last summer I officially decided to use WordPress to start my own blog, so I did.
I’m so glad that I did this, though. I’m meeting new people, and discovering different kinds of challenges, tags, and facts about anything and everything.
So, this was sort-of name explanation post mixed in with a little bit of the story of how I got to starting this blog. The thing is, though, I like how the discussions on here don’t always need to be limited to books. I actually just recently noticed that my more diverse posts (photography and movie reviews) have gotten likes from a lot of different kinds of blogs. How they are finding my posts, I don’t know, but I just want to let anyone that may be reading know that I really appreciate it. Seeing that someone outside of the book community is liking my things really motivates me to post, so thank you.
Until next time,
Yellow Eccentricity ❤
