Lupercalia!

Hello, friends! Today is Tuesday – Valentine’s Day (except for those of you that are currently living in tomorrow…) and I just wanted to spread the spirit!

I actually learned a bunch of stuff about Valentine’s Day in my Latin class, so I wanted to share a little with you.

So, the ancient Roman version of St. Valentine’s Day was called Lupercalia, and, long story short, all of the men ran through the streets with whips, and basically once the whip touched a woman’s skin, they would be granted fertility.

(Except the way the video we watched described it was a bit more blunt, by simply saying, “The men ran through the streets with whips and hit all of the women they passed, essentially granting them fertility.”)

Today, to school, I wore my love-filled shirt (Literally a purple button-down with bright red hearts all over it) and everybody else seemed to be feeling it, so I was happy. I gave my parents a Valentine’s Day card that I bought last week, and accidentally wrote their names on the envelope upside down, and wrote a cursive ‘G’ instead of a cursive ‘D’ for ‘Dad.’

So, yeah, this morning was a little bit of a mess, but hey, Valentine’s Day doesn’t guarantee anything.

Overall, today has been pretty eventful.

See, my blog is called Yellow Eccentricity, because I generally consider myself to be pretty eccentric (I’ll explain the rest later.) in the way that I dress. Usually, I wear button-down shirts or leggings with cool patterns. My friend actually thought I buttoned my shirts up all the way to the top so I could cover my bra straps, but no!

Collars are awesome.

So, anyway, it was almost as if people at my school were so used to me wearing strange things all the time, that they didn’t really notice when I wore my heart shirt to school today.

I don’t know where I was going with that story, but please, get off the computer and spend time with some people you love! Obviously, once I finish writing this post I’ll stay on the computer, but that’s because I don’t have a life, okay?

So cherish the time that you have with the people you love, and let them know you appreciate them. Hopefully, you can inspire me, too. 😉

Please, leave any Valentine’s Day experiences of your own in the comments! I’d love to hear from you guys!

Until another time,

Yellow Eccentricity ❤
